Love birds

Is this really poetry?
Or just an attempt to make lines rhyme?
I'm just trying to share my story freely
Tell a tale of an experience that was mine.

It's not about feminism or racism
Or any other important topic of discussion
But about the pangs of heartbreak,
It's spasms
the joy of a heart free from tension.

We were close in Senior High
The real thing, nothing highly sensual
We talked and laughed
                     such chemistry I can't deny
Because even now I know it was mutual.

One thing led to another
I called it quits
                  torn between decisions
I explained it had nothing to do with her
My inner conflicts were the cause of that condition.

Years later we got back in touch
Getting close again
                       I felt a lingering guilt
My love had more substance.

Call me old-fashioned or conservative
I never had a thing for social media
Felt it was mentally and socially degenerative
                                       But for her
I got on Facebook with my little Nokia.

Love continued, like a sweet fairy tale
Our chats - a bit one-sided
 I didn't really care.
"I don't chat much on Facebook, it's going stale"
Was her beauty blinding or was I just overlooking my fears?

'I'm in the area, are you around?'
"I'm not feeling well, maybe next time"
no problem, I could tell from your voice"
No need to ask which line was mine.

I was expecting an Android
 I didn't tell her.
Me, anti-social media guy of yesterday.
Getting on WhatsApp felt cool ice cream
Smearing a burning desire
                  This chase had changed me.

I got my phone          Oh God!
                      such happiness
Do I really need to charge it before use?
Impatience was a balm for past
 pain & disappointment.
           Deafened by joy and laughter
        I couldn't hear the truth.

Three nights before
   We had a long call
Romantic, reaffirming and love-sure
Is sitting on the fence always this sweet before the fall?

New to WhatsApp
She was first to receive my text
'Hello or whatever you say when you're new'
My naivety on the platform
wasn't covered by any pretext
   "Sorry I can't do this"

Shaking hands        deleted my                             &
 Opened a new one
Rattled, I apologized for going blank
Asked if she was serious
Because she could tell a mean joke.

A couple of heartrending chats later
Then an 'I owe you no explanation' that wasn't shy
My WhatsApp experience was traumatized and shattered.

Six months I bled
Even prayed to not develop hate
At least I'm proud no one knew or heard
My painful ordeal or its wearing weight.

Was it payback?     Was it karma?
I was not the best, clear fact
But I knew I deserved better.

  I grew and healed
My heart was never bone
                but it had really fractured
But I had changed
Never again would I be insulted 'immature'.

Long boring story short
Women are not scum, neither are men
Though we might have got hurt
We grow and we learn

 My hurt is fading
the pain almost is gone
I am pretty much one of the coolest guys that'll come your way
If you ask if I've forgiven and moved on
I don't know till meet her again
So is this really poetry?
Or just an attempt to make lines rhyme?
Well, I'm just trying to share my story freely and honestly
To tell a tale of an experience
                       that was once mine.

She is my Oat making inspiration, she has other sumptuous recipes on her Instagram page. If you are vegan she has the right meal plan for you. Asakemi is her personal page and it explores nature and minimalism at it's finest.

A week of left overs and frozen eats. That’s what this week in meals is for me. I cooked so much last week and the week before that my freezer is packed. So this week, I will not be cooking. Just making oatmeal and warming up already cooked meals for lunch and dinner. I’m curious to see what combinations I’ll come up with for the next seven days. In the meantime, thought I’d share the recipe for this vegan French toast. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This recipe is for about three regular sized bread slices. However, only use thicker bread types such as whole wheat, sprouted or a french bread type. Because it can get soggy very easily. I’ve tried using egg replacement for a french toast recipe but it has a slime to it and I’m not a big fan. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So here you go. I hope you enjoy. Tag me if you do! I’d love to see! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1/2 cup almond milk (or non dairy milk of choice) 1 tsp nutritional yeast 1 tsp cinnamon powder 1 tbsp brown sugar (or sub 1 tsp maple syrup) 2 tbsp unbleached flour (gluten free, oats flour, any flour really) 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional) 3 slices (hard) bread. I use sprouted bread. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Whisk all the ingredients in a wide low bowl. Then using a brush or spoon, spread on one side of bread. Heat up pan with some coconut oil (just a bit) and lay on toast. Then spread the mixture on the other side of toast (that’s facing up). Flip over. Cook each side for about 2-3 minute on medium heat. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For chocolate topping/syrup 1/3 warm cup water (or use half water, half dairy free milk) 1 tsp raw cacao powder Sugar to sweeten. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Mix everything together into smooth. If warm, let sit for a bit to cool to room temperature.

Helium health

I discovered lauretta when she was the community manager for tribecalledena and since then I have simply adored her. Her voice caught my attention during her tutorials on the tribes page. I have not regretted following. She is doing amazing things in health and technology. She is selfless and goal-driven in a way that will inspire you.

If you are into anything health, tech or media related Lauretta is your plug. She is the E.D for the Chsscheme, a youth led organization that fortifies health systems in marginalized communities.

⁣ This wasn’t my intended post, ⁣ ⁣ I filmed a 2 minutes video only to realise that there was this annoying noise in the background 😭 😀 ⁣ ⁣ Prior to today, I wanted to go quiet about the Corona situation. Many of the volunteers at @chsscheme will not be willing to do anything and even if they are willing, we really don’t have the capacity to curtail the spread of the virus 🦠 ⁣ ⁣ But... I couldn’t look away after calling one of our contacts in a rural community we oversee. As wild as things I’ve gotten, they seem not to have an idea πŸ’‘ at all. ⁣ Please swipe to see what we plan to do ⬅️ This is sort of an emergency 🚨 and it’s better to do the little we can now to support. ⁣ ⁣ Link to donate is in my bio πŸ™ ⁣ ⁣ #LaurettaHamza #COVID19Response #CHSScheme

The World is heavy with bad news. I have been afraid, sad, and overwhelmed but I realized my father would want me to choose hope, he would want me to focus on him and surrender. This is just me making sense of a prayer Abba taught us himself. I saw Iyanu Adebiyi do it on her Instagram stories. So,

Here is my version of the lord's prayer

My father
who sits warmly above me
Your holiness purifies my tongue
as I call out your name.
I am here, in this temporal place you have created for me.

I am learning to twist this place
into a divine blueprint to reflect your
heavenly intentions
To make it as conducive as your
glowing abode
So that I can call you in for a feast
Fill my belly just enough for me to run out and run to you in split seconds
Needing and yearning from your abundance.

Father this girl is demanding
Asking that you hurry up with the dough
Because the bakeries here choose to
Feed me stone
I am hungry, fill me.

Blot away my red spots
Do not let my sin fix the weight of
The World on my chest
Father, take this filth and make it favor
I will peel off my resentment
And make room for reconciliation
I will not let the heat of my anger burn my
Neighbors skin
I will not be intrusive or call their dermis darkness

My body is orgasmic at the sight
Of things that will destroy me
The path I have chosen is coy
My legs firmly planted in the fields of
Desire and I devour with gluttony everything that crosses my path
Drag me out of this route
Lead me out of this temptation
Father my soul wants to fall
Catch it with light
Save me from the dubiousness
 of bad intentions
Deliver me from all Evil

And when this girl is clean
She will get accustomed to the
The infinitive landmark of your abode
The grandiose of your existence
The reign of your majesty
And she will know truly
That yours is the kingdom
The power and the glory
Till the end of all days

Read the actual lords prayer here.
I encourage you to do this, take any part of the Bible and personalize it, you can start with the Lord's prayer. Leave me a comment and you can even email me your version.
Stay safe and stay prayed up.
